A striking pair of early 20th century French Overlay crystal newel post finials. These wonderful finials were used as decorative elements at the bottom of a staircase on the newel post. These examples are crafted from two layers of cased glass with the cobalt glass surface cut back to reveal decorative circular and slashed windows around the orb. A multi-cut star at the top completes the design, with a sturdy brass base below.
