A Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Cylindrical Pendant Lantern
SOLD
This opulent glass lantern dates from the 19th century, and is packed with intricate detailing throughout, including delicate rose swags, and four miniature urns supported upon sprays of swirling acanthus. This centrally suspended pendant lantern is made of gilded bronze, in a fabulous Rococo design, of cylindrical form, with four uprights supporting its upper frame. The lantern comes complete with original substantial brass chain and ceiling rose. The gilded areas are delightfully aged, with a rich patina and some small areas of oxidation. A spectacular addition to any internal space.
