Pair of 18th Century Terracotta ‘Bouquetières’ or Flower Vases

$1.600,00

A beautiful matching pair of glazed terracotta ‘Bouquetières’, or wall-hung flower vases, rustic in style and dating from the 18th century. Each of these delightful vases is created in a D- shape, with a gadrooned outer edge, thirty stem holes and a reservoir for water. The decoration is simple and features simple sprays of wild flowers and foliage on a textured cream-coloured background, flanked on either side by shaped and painted ram’s heads. The back of each vase is pierced with two holes, for ease of hanging. Please note that there are minor areas of damage and wear to the ceramic glaze in places, as would be expected with pieces of this age and usage.
