18th Century Louis XV Period Giltwood Console Table
$8.800,00
This rather elegant and unusual, ornately carved giltwood Louis XV period console table features two arching legs connected by an openwork crosspiece embellished with motifs of shells and foliage surrounding a gleaming, angelic face. The connecting stretcher between the legs is carved with a palmette, while the white marble top is rectangular in shaped, and shows signs of possible previous restoration. Consoles were standard furniture in interiors of the day, often forming part of the panelling of a room or parlour and frequently topped with a fine gilt mirror.
Circa 1780
