A stunning green-Glazed Terracotta Gargoulette
$1.400,00
A stunning and authentic gargoulette or water cruche in a sought-after green glaze. Originating from Provence, this beautiful and practical jug has two handles, into one of which is incorporated a pouring spout. Once very common and in everyday use, gargoulettes were a very practical kind of jug which could be used to transport cold drinking water to workers in the fields, either strapped to a donkey, or worn on the belt. The chips in the glaze and its other minor imperfections only add to its character and give an insight into its former life as a perfectly designed utilitarian kitchen vessel.
