1750s Louis XV Period Fauteuil à la Reine
$2.600,00
A wide and comfortable Louis XV style fauteuil ‘à la reine’, hand carved in the 18th century and featuring exquisite green silk upholstery woven with neoclassical motifs of lyres, cherubs, peacocks and swans. The shoulder-high back rest and manchettes are lightly padded and, together with the overstuffed seat cushion, are secured all around with a neat nail-head trim. The cabriole legs are beautifully moulded to match the arm supports, and there is extra carved detailing in the form of a simple flower and foliage motif on the curvaceous front apron, which matches that at the top of the seat back. The stained wood has an authentically aged patina, with a few small imperfections and restorations in places as would be expected with a chair of this age and usage. A fine addition to any home.
Please note, we have an almost matching second chair available, differing only in some minor detailing.
