1760s Louis XV Walnut Fauteuil à La Reine by Mathieu Bauve
$3.400,00
A luxurious Louis XV period armchair in beautifully carved and moulded walnut, with ornate scroll-carved arm rests and supports. This elegant ‘Fauteuil à la Reine’ dates from the 18th century, and has a padded, slightly inclined back and overstuffed wide seat for maximum comfort, as well as curvaceous cabriole legs and scrolled feet. The chair has been lovingly upholstered in creamy white silk, woven with a classic floral design, and secured all around with an elegant nailhead trim. The chair bears the signature of Mathieu Debauve (also known as Bauve), a master carpenter from Paris, who designed and produced furniture for the castle of Versailles during the second half of the 18th century. As stylish today as when first made, its timeless design and historical charm will instantly elevate the ambiance of any interior.
