A luxurious and elegant French antique jewelry box
$6.600,00
An antique jewelry or watch box, dating from the Napoléon III period. It features a complex design of mahogany veneer and mahogany burl veneer, with brass and mother-of-pearl inlays on the lid, including the initials MA monogrammed onto a central lozenge. This delightful box opens to reveal a rose pink satin and velvet interior, complete with a pull-out lower drawer and useful dividers for rings, watches and other trinkets on the top tray. A small oval, bevelled mirror is set into the lid’s underside. Unusually for a box of this type, the key is present. The lid is slightly faded, and there are some other minor signs of wear and tear in keeping with its age and usage.
Circa 1890
