This is a beautiful example of an authentic, 19th century French water pitcher from the Provence region. Glazed internally and externally, this wonderful sunshine-yellow jug has a large side handle and pouring spout, and is sturdily built with a wonderful flared bowl and detailed rim. Used to store and keep water cool in hot weather, every French kitchen would have kept one of these in the larder before the days of refrigeration.
