Set of 11 French Majolica Asparagus Plates by Sarreguemines, 19th Century
$4.250,00
A striking set of 11 antique French majolica asparagus plates, crafted by the renowned Sarreguemines pottery in the late 19th century. Each plate is molded in a stylized scallop shell form, hand-painted with vibrant green asparagus spears that radiate from the center, accented with delicate pink and burgundy scrollwork at the top and along the rim.
These plates are a beautiful example of French majolica, showcasing the exceptional detail, glazing, and colorwork characteristic of Sarreguemines ceramics. The relief-molded asparagus motif is both whimsical and practical, designed to cradle delicate vegetables in the center depression of each plate.
All pieces are stamped on the underside with the Sarreguemines mark, “Déposé,” ensuring their authenticity. The plates are in very good antique condition, with only minor signs of wear consistent with age and gentle use—no cracks or major chips.
