This gorgeously sunny still life (oil on canvas) of ‘Fruit and Flowers’ (Fruits et Fleurs) by 20th century French artist Jean-Pierre Benitah, exudes rustic character and the warmth of the French countryside. Known for his brightly coloured works of art, the artist hails from the Provence region of France, where he works from his atelier in Cassis – a picturesque town situated on the Mediterranean coast around 20km east of Marseille, from which one imagines he must derive much of his inspiration. This painting is beautifully framed with a simple and unfussy gilt and wood frame, and is signed in its lower left-hand corner. This piece of art is supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity from ‘La Galerie d’Art Jean-Marc Andréozzi’ confirming its status as an original work of art, and dated 1990.
