A sumptuous and beautifully upholstered ‘Fauteuil à la Reine’ armchair, in the Louis XV style and dating from the Napoleon III period. Crafted from moulded, and formerly blackened, walnut, this wonderful antique chair has a wide and comfortable seat so typical of the period, together with padded armrests and the classic flat backrest. Decoratively carved Rococo cartouches adorn the upper crest rail and centre front rail, with intricate carved detailing on all parts of the exposed wood, including the elegant cabriole legs and fluted arm supports. The upholstery is particularly fine, and features a polychrome decoration of flowers and pomegranates on a creamy beige background, secured all around with a stylish nailhead trim
