Pair of Chinese Baluster Warrior Vases in Nanjing Crackle Glaze
$3.450,00
A superb pair of large and elegant Chinese ‘Nanjing’ porcelain baluster vases, each intricately decorated with an encircling battle scene of warriors on foot and on horseback on its lower half. Dating from the 19th century, these statuesque crackle glaze vases also feature a fantastical relief design of foo dogs and other traditional chinese characters on their upper half, serving as side handles and decoration around the upper belly. The colours in the design remain extremely vibrant for their age. The vases are signed on the base.
