A lovely 19th century Chinese Ginger Jar
$4.800,00
An interesting mid-19th century antique Chinese porcelain ginger jar from the Ching Kuang dynasty, with fitted lid and extremely desirable ‘Government Antiquities’ wax export seal still in place on the base. Traditional blue and white colouring on a celadon glazed background depicts a peacock nestled amongst oriental foliage and flowers. The lid, with its pointed finial, has some small chips on it, is a slightly different celadon hue to the main body, and is decorated with three stylised bats. The lids on these pieces were fired in separate batches and matched up afterwards – fitting perfectly onto the jar.
