19th Century Terracotta Bust of Young Maiden in a Romantic Style
$5.500,00
A delightful and finely detailed 18th century-style French terracotta bust of a young maiden with a wreath of flowers in her hair. This charming piece of sculpture is raised on an elegant mottled green marble plinth, and is inspired by the work of the accomplished French-Catalan sculptor Jean-Baptiste Belloc (1863-1919) whose original was exhibited under the name ‘Le Printemps’ (‘the Spring’). Dating from the end of the 19th century, the sculpture is beautifully executed, with exquisite detailing to the sculpted face and hair, while the warm terracotta almost glows with a wonderfully aged patina.
