A plaster bust with terracotta patina, in the style of Augustin Pajou, portraying a young man of the 18th century. Pajou was a French sculptor known mainly for his portrait busts of famous contemporaries, and received many commissions from Louis XVI for the creation of statues honouring great Frenchmen.
