Chryselephantine Figurine of a ‘Child Carrying a Duck’
$6.900,00
A charming and petite figurine of a ‘Child Carrying a Duck’ in gilt cast bronze and carved ivory by Eugène Bernoud, an impressionist and modern sculptor working in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. This style of sculpture, known as ‘Chryselephantine’, describes statuettes where the skin is represented in ivory, and with clothing and other details made from secondary materials, such as gold, silver, or, as in this case, bronze. This jaunty little fellow, with his inscrutable expression and feathered friend, is mounted on a block of veined red marble, which bears the signature ‘E. Bernoud’.
