19th C. Brown and Yellow Glazed Oil Jar
$1.600,00
This antique French earthenware jug, with its fabulous rich brown and yellow glaze, dates from the 19th century, and would originally have been used to store nut oils or keep drinking water pleasantly cool. Featuring three handles and a distinctively shaped pouring spout, this large, hand-thrown jug is in excellent vintage condition, with barely a mark or chip to its glaze. Originally a utilitarian kitchen object, well used in a French country kitchen, it has developed a rich and desirable patina over its lifetime, and would today make a truly magnificent display piece, or a unique vase for fresh flowers.
