French 1st Empire Armchair with Carved Dolphins’ Heads
$1.800,00
A fine Empire mahogany armchair with four elegant saber legs, upholstered in vertical cream and crimson stripes, and featuring ornately carved dolphins’ heads at the base of each shaped arm rest. This stately and very handsome chair has a wide, comfortably padded seat, with a slightly inclined, rectangular backrest, padded and upholstered to match the seat. The upholstery is in good, vintage condition and is typical of the style, its classic beauty accentuated with the addition of a simple brass nail-head trim all round. This is an exceptionally well-made and sturdy armchair, and would be ideal for use as a comfortable library chair or to accessorise a stylish office.
