An exquisite suite of richly carved giltwood salon furniture in the Louis XVI style, comprising four oval back ‘Fauteuil Cabriolet’ armchairs and a matching two-seater sofa. Each chair in this elegant set is upholstered on the back and seat and arm rests in a wonderfully detailed tapestry, depicting gallant scenes framed by extravagant garlands of flowers and foliage. This floral theme is echoed in the moulding on the crest of each chair back, as well as on the stiles raising the médaillon backrest, the base of the arm supports, and the capitals of each leg. The chairs are raised over beautiful turned and fluted tapering legs, each one terminating in a dainty arrow foot. Please note, there are some minor losses to the gilt finish.
