18th Century Directoire Bergère Chair with Paisley Upholstery

$7.550,00

This rare French bergère dates from the late 18th century, during the elegant transitional period between the Louis XVI and Directoire styles. Crafted from solid beechwood, the frame exhibits exceptional craftsmanship, featuring delicately carved floral rosettes on the corner blocks, elegantly fluted legs, and beautifully twisted columns along the armrests. The wood retains its charming original patina, enhancing the classical beauty and authenticity of this remarkable piece.

The chair is upholstered in a luxurious paisley-printed fabric, showcasing vibrant red tones with subtle accents of cream, green, and gold. This intricate pattern beautifully complements the graceful curves of the bergère, adding a warm and sophisticated decorative touch.

While the structure of the chair is perfectly sound and remains very comfortable for seating, the fabric on the seat cushion has become fragile over time. Although the chair can still be used, the fabric on the seat may eventually show signs of wear or tearing and will likely require repair or replacement to ensure long-term use. However, the upholstery on the backrest and sides remains in good decorative condition and does not require immediate attention.

This exquisite bergère is not only a highly collectible historical piece but also a functional and elegant addition to any interior. Whether placed in a formal living room, a cozy reading corner, or used as a statement accent chair, it will bring timeless French charm and the refined elegance of the 18th century into your home.
