19th Pair of French Louis XVI Style Golden Bergère Chairs

A well-proportioned pair of late 19th-century Louis XVI style ‘Bergère’ armchairs, upholstered in gold fabric, with golden bronze braid trim, and embellished with gilt flourishes throughout. Standing on finely turned, twist-fluted legs surmounted by paterae, the carved and moulded timbers of these chairs retain their original well-worn patina. Designed for comfort, they sport separate, detachable seat cushions and padded armrests. Cleaning of the upholstery is advised.

Found in the Castle of Sanilhac-Sagriès, Provence.
