A magnificent Louis XVI Epoque “Bergère” armchair
$4.300,00
A supremely comfortable and well-proportioned Louis XVI period ‘Bergère en Gondole’ armchair, dating from around the 18th century. Upholstered in stripes of luxurious cream and gold, edged in gold-braid trim, the generous seat has a fitted, loose seat cushion, and the graceful curved back terminates in upholstered and padded scrolled armrests. Fluted, tapering legs end in toupie feet, the original grey lacquered finish having a nicely worn, chalky patina, which is, unusually, picked out throughout in a regal dark green. As is typical of chairs of this design, the rear of this chair features the exposed woodwork of the frame. In excellent, antique condition, but some cleaning of the upholstery would be advised.
Please note: a matching pair of Louis XVI period armchairs are also available to purchase..
Circa 1760
