19th Century Pair of Porcelain de Paris Urns
$3.700,00
A fine pair of antique French urns in ‘Porcelain de Paris’, and dating from the early 19th century. These sensational vases are decorated with hand-painted romantic scenes featuring rustically dressed lovers and countryside buildings and landscapes, and are generously highlighted with swathes of hand-applied gilt. Modelled on the ‘Medici’ design, the vases narrow at their bases to sit on square pedestals, and each has two elegant and narrow gilded side handles, with cherubic details at their centres. Please note that one of the vases shows signs of previous restoration, and that, in keeping with their age and usage, there are some areas of wear to the gilt. However, this wonderful pair of urns are full of character and intrigue, and would grace any room with their gilded elegance.
