A Persian ‘Qum’ or ‘Ghoum’ rug hand-woven in wool and silk, featuring a central star- shaped medallion in vivid hues of red and blue, from which rosettes and flowers radiate outwards towards a sandy-coloured border. Prized for the complexity and detail of their fine weave, Qum rugs are made in the Qum Province of Iran, around 100 km south of Tehran, and often feature tree of life and medallion motifs in shades of blue, red and ivory.
