A tall and elegant round chest of six drawers, in the Louis XV style, veneered with elaborate marquetry inlaid designs on the drawer fronts, top and sides. Solid brass drawer knobs and elegant cabriole legs complete the design. Known as ‘chiffonniers’ in French, these tall and narrow commodes first became popular in the mid-18th century, when women of high society liked to place them in their bedrooms or living rooms. Compact and simple in shape, with plenty of space inside, they are equally useful today for the storage of small items of clothing or cosmetics.
