19th Century Louis XVI style Giltwood Console Mirror

A superb quality Louis XVI style giltwood parclose wall mirror, rectangular in shape and featuring an unusual glass ‘bubble’ design set into all four sides of its ornate gilt frame. Crowning the mirror is an exuberantly carved pediment that incorporates stylised motifs of a painter’s accoutrements, topped with a cascading knotted bow. Highly decorative gilt and stucco mouldings generously cover the whole of the frame, including its elegant outset corners, in a motif of foliage and flowers, while a delicate string-of-pearl beading encircles the mirror plate itself. In good antique condition with minor cracking and losses to the stucco, commensurate with its age and usage.
