A large and highly decorative Louis Philippe period giltwood console mirror with arched top in the Louis XV style. The curvaceous frame of this 19th century mirror is beautifully aged, the original red hue of the underlying wood showing in places where the gilt has worn, adding great character. The pediment displays a wealth of ornate carving, with a crest of rococo-style feathers and scrolled acanthus leaves, while each lower corner is embellished with tiny flowers. Please note that there are some small age-related cracks to the carved decoration in places, but this does not detract from the beauty and charm of the mirror.
