Gilt Bronze Rococo Vanity Mirror
$2.900,00
A petite but very impressive gilt bronze Rococo vanity mirror, dating from around 1900, and featuring ornately cast floral and foliage decoration around its frame. At the crest, a flower- filled urn is flanked by two flaming lamps, lapped by extravagant acanthus scrolls. Intricate clusters of fruit, flowers and foliage cling to each side, while at the lower crosspiece sits a decorative mascaron flanked by swirling acanthus and other typically exuberant Rococo motifs. The original bevelled mirror plate, which shows some small signs of foxing, is retained by a simple border of twisted rope-style beading. The mirror is fitted with a hinged stand at the back, which enables it to be displayed at the perfect angle for reflecting the sunlight.
