Gold Lacquered Cabaret Chair with Vase Backrest
$1.200,00
An elaborate and very attractive Napoleon III-period cabaret, or lounge, chair, in sculpted and gold-lacquered wood. Slightly reclining in angle, the backrest is highly ornate, with a stylised vase design suspended at its centre. The top rail is also highly decorative, with swags of foliage on its crown, and carved circular finials on each shoulder. The seat cushion is upholstered in a sumptuous burnt orange, retained all around with smooth brass pinheads, and the front legs are nicely turned and fluted, with lots of gilt adornment. Dating from the 19th century.
