Pair of French Giltwood and Cane Side Chairs, 19th Century
$2.500,00
A very fine pair of Louis XVI style side chairs in carved and gilded wood. Dating from the Napoleon III period, these chairs feature ornately carved high backs, comprising an outer rectangular and stepped frame topped with an elaborate crest. Within this frame is an inner oval-shaped caned backrest, itself set within an intricately carved frame and sporting a cascading ribbon on its highest curve. The rounded caned seats rise above four fluted legs, terminating in toupie feet, and featuring a beautifully carved rose at the crest of each one. The chairs are in good, used condition.
