Rare Set of 10 Italian Rococo Dining Chairs with Distressed Patina, c.1800
$26.700,00
An exceptional and rare set of 10 Italian Rococo dining chairs, crafted in solid beechwood and dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. These chairs feature an elegant hand-carved silhouette with serpentine lines and pierced backs, adorned with classic Rococo motifs such as acanthus scrolls, shell crests, and foliate carvings.
The original polychrome and gilt finish, now beautifully distressed, reveals layers of age and patina that only time can create, adding depth and authenticity to each piece. The seats are upholstered in rich tan leather with a subtly aged sheen that harmonizes perfectly with the worn gilding.
Standing on carved cabriole legs terminating in paw feet, each chair is detailed with stylized floral and scroll ornaments, including a central cartouche on the seat rail. The overall design is both dramatic and refined, offering a sense of grandeur without being overly ornate.
Likely originating from Northern Italy, these chairs were designed for an aristocratic interior, combining decorative artistry with comfort and durability. Their scale and unified design make them ideal for a statement dining room, a refined formal setting, or a historic design project.
