A handsome and finely carved French mahogany ‘Méridienne‘ sleigh sofa, from the ‘Directoire‘ period. This graceful daybed features elegantly curved ends carved with swans’ head finials, and striped, golden velour upholstery, standing on toupie feet. The ‘Directoire’ was a transitional period in the decorative arts, bridging the gap between the Louis XVI and Empire periods.
