This gilt bronze candle holder, or ‘chamberstick’, dates from the 19th century, and features a chiseled design of concentric circles, moving inwards towards the candle sconce in the centre. The sconce itself has a gently flaring and reeded rim, which splays outwards over a shaped body, itself embellished with concentric circles and a reeded belly. The handle is delicately crafted from a bronze ring, topped with a leaf.
