Parisian Travelling Trunk
$4.800,00
A sturdy and practical antique French storage trunk, made from oak, with brass fixings and bronze side handles, dating from the end of the 19th century. Inlaid on the top is a brass plate sporting a coat of arms surmounted by a heraldic helmet and crest. The locking plate is engraved with the maker’s mark: “L. Favier Fils – Fabricant d’Orfèvrerie – 25 Quai de l’Horloge – Paris”, which relates to the goldsmith Louis-Marie Favier (1871-1921), a master craftsman specialising in the manufacture of ecclesiastical items.
In keeping with its age and use, this characterful trunk does show some signs of wear and tear to the finish and to its interior. Some repair will be necessary to its lock and its key is missing.
