A very chic canvas-covered wooden steamer trunk, complete with sturdy leather carrying handles and very attractive vertical wood and brass banding. This wonderful vintage travelling trunk dates from the 19th century, and features a green fabric-lined interior, with lift-out top tray, perfect for the storage of smaller trinkets or frequently used travelling items. Steamer trunks were so called as they were generally low enough to fit under the berth on a train, or in the cabin of a steam ship. This is a lovely piece, which would work beautifully repurposed as a coffee table or bedroom storage box.
