19th Century French Travelling Trunk in Wood and Leather

A highly decorative and stylish 19th century French travelling trunk, monogrammed with the initials L.B.M and the number ‘9’ on a gilded brass plaque. The trunk is leather bound on its exterior, with brass corner guards, edgings and clasp mounts (engraved with the maker’s mark : “Articles de voyage EYMANN fabricant 51 Marseille”). Internally, there are a range of pink and white candy-striped fabric-lined shallow storage boxes, making this an extremely practical addition to a bedroom or for general storage. Highly decorative, it has great character, and one can only guess at the journeys it has made in its long life! Shows some areas of age-related damage, wear and repair, which only add to its charm.
