18th Century Louis XV Style Fauteuil à La Reine
$2.900,00
A wide and comfortable Louis XV style fauteuil, hand carved in the 18th century and featuring exquisite green silk upholstery woven with neoclassical motifs of lyres, cherubs, peacocks and swans. The shoulder-high camel back rest and arm rests are lightly padded and, together with the overstuffed seat cushion, are secured all around with a neat nail-head trim. The cabriole legs and scrolled feet are beautifully moulded to match the arm supports, and there is extra carved detailing in the form of stylised shells on the curvaceous front apron and the top of each front leg. The stained wood has an authentically aged patina, with some marks on the seat cushion and a few small areas of restoration in places as would be expected with a piece of furniture of this age and usage. A fine addition to any home.
Please note, we have an almost matching second chair available, differing only in some minor detailing.
