Pair of French Antique Giltwood Caned Side Chairs
$2.100,00
A delightful pair of late 19th century carved and moulded giltwood side chairs, with caned seats and backrests. These elegant chairs, with their high, cartouche-style backs, are raised on cabriole legs joined by a delicately curved X-shaped stretcher. The chair frames are beautifully decorated with carvings of shells and other classic Rococo-style motifs, with an eye-catching criss-cross design etched into the shaped apron and legs. The gilding is nicely aged throughout, with some worn areas which reveal the fine wood grain beneath.
