An ornate Napoleon III gilt parcloses wall mirror

An imposing Napoleon III period parclose wall mirror, in moulded, carved stucco and gilded wood.The haut-relief outer frame is decorated with stepped corners, egg-and-dart mouldings and ornatedecoration to three sides, while the central oval features a bevelled mirror panel, enclosed within adelicate ‘string-of-pearls’. Topping the frame is a large crest featuring a basket filled with flowers and foliage, with smaller, flaming ‘lamps’ at each top corner. The mirror retains its original gilt finish, although a little worn in places, but this only adds to its character.
